Do any of you believe in ghosts? Or at least in the Paranormal? I'd like to share my stories with you, but wanted to know if there are any skeptics first. These stories are real and are things actually encountered by me or family members. _________________

When I was 13, we rented a 100-year-old farmhouse for a year. It was a large, 2 story with a regular kitchen and a summer kitchen. The property also consisted of a smaller house (I'm guessing it was probably used for grandparents), a huge historic barn (which was later dismantled and rebuilt in Vermont) and a creepy chicken coop. The whole property had a strange feel about it. I'm not going to go into everything all at once, but I'll start off by saying that there was a cold spot right outside my bedroom door (which was located upstairs). The bed I slept in was an old wooden twin-sized frame (Mom & Dad bought a new mattress set for it) that we found in the creepy attic down the small hallway around the corner from my room. Every single night, a male presence came into my room and sat down at the foot of my bed. I could feel my feet sink into the mattress and I could smell him (a mix of mustiness, old cologne and sulfa). I would just lay there, stiff as a board, and pull the covers up over my head until he went away. I never actually saw him, but just knew it was a male. On the 1 or 2 times I could muster up enough courage to actually look, I could see the imprint of him sitting on my bed.
There's much more to this story. My whole family was affected in some way at this house. |

Well, no one's replied to that. Either you don't believe me or you just don't know what to say. All I can tell you is it honestly happened, and my parents and sister all witnessed numerous activities in that house. To continue the story:
The smell of sulfur was pretty prominent in the house most times. There was also a horrible rodent infestation we couldn't control. My sister was pushed down the entire flight of stairs (she says she actually felt hands on her back ... and no, it wasn't me!) and broke her ankle. My mom was physically attacked on a couple of occasions. It would pin her down and try to suffocate her. She saw a man looking at her once. He was standing in their bedroom, looking in her dresser mirror at her. She said his clothing looked like it was from the 1800's, with a top hat. He was filthy and she smelled sulfur. He just glared at her. (I'm thinking it's the same man who sat at the foot of my bed every night.) But he isn't the one that attacked her. She said what attacked her was a creature with hooves. She could hear the hooves as it ran on the hardwood floor toward her.
We could be sitting in the living room and see a huge, heavy, tall potted plant just start moving along the floor by itself. Or the curtains would blow when the windows were tightly closed (Dad checked for leaks ... there were none). Things on the wall would move. We all experienced health issues while we lived there. Seems we were always sick. Dad says he had experiences there himself, but he's never talked about them.
I was terrified living there and I've never been able to forget it. The memories are still so vivid. We got out of there as soon as our one-year lease was up. A couple of years later, a semi went off the road and hit the house, directly into what was mom & dad's bedroom (where most of the paranormal activity took place). A woman was home at the time, but she was upstairs and ended up on the bed of the truck and survived. The truck driver was killed instantly. I've always thought that something drew that semi in. I've driven past the old property (which is now just a grassy hill with the old trees and the driveways) since then, and you get a very uneasy feeling when you go by. I wish I could find out more about the history. I heard at one time a man shot and killed his wife there many years ago. If that's true, it could be the reason for the haunting. |

I believe your story! That's some freaky, scary stuff. I know that smells associate themselves with paranormal energy, but I've always heard that the sulfur smell meant it was not a good pressence.
I'm glad you all made it out ok and that it didn't follow you to the next place! |

Yeah, it was definitely not a good presence at all. Mom and I were just talking about the place the other day and she told me more things she remembered. It was a horrible year for all of us and we were glad it didn't follow us, too. But it's still in our memories.
Even though those spirits (or demons, or whatever they were) didn't follow us, I've had more experiences since then. In 2002, after meeting Tim, I bought a condo in Centerville, Ohio. Things were quiet there for a while, and then, all of a sudden, things started happening. He had bought me a stereo system for Christmas and I had it hooked up in my bedroom. One day, I was downstairs and the stereo kicked on, full-blast, on a station I didn't even have it set on. It happened a few times. Also, sometimes the TV would shut off on its own and turn itself back on, but always on channel 46. There was always an ominous presence in the guest room (even my parents noticed it when they stayed there) and in the hall leading to it (which was upstairs and overlooked the great room). Tim said he was in the guest room and felt a hand brush along his back.
The cats noticed it. They would be sitting or laying in the great room and would just look up at that area in the upstairs hall and stare, eyes wide open and ears back, like they were scared. After Tim & I were married, we were sitting in his den (the loft), talking. He was at his computer and I was curled up on the couch. I decided to go downstairs and get something to drink, but ended up staying down there and watching TV. Then he leaned over the loft railing and called down to me, "How long have you been down there?" I told him probably at least 15 minutes or so. He said, "No, you were just here - I was just talking to you and I turned around and you weren't there." He said he saw, out of the corner of his eye, the figure of a woman, sitting on the couch, and he thought it was me and he was talking to her. When he looked over to the couch, there was no one there.
The strangest thing is this: when we moved out, in the guest room closet, at the top to the right, was a large, cross-shaped burn in the wall. Maybe 8 or 10 inches long, and extremely noticeable. I definitely would have seen this when I moved in. _________________

I believe you. I've also had so many weird things happen to me that I can't explain.
My mom grew up in a haunted house, it burned down when she was 13. My family still tells stories about what it was like to live there. My aunt had a ghost follow her from that house to her new one after she got married.
I swear that the last house we were in was haunted. We also had a terrible rodent problem in our house from day 1 of buying it. Right after getting the keys we started to move our stuff in. My son was 2 at the time went running back to the back bathroom stopped at the door and let out a terrifying scream he started crying and ran back to me and pointed at the bathroom. He did that again a couple months later. I was sitting on the living room couch and I watched him walk over to his bedroom look up and start screaming and crying and then he ran to my arms. He was trying so hard to tell me what he saw but at that time he didn't have much in the way of vocabulary skills. My husband would get annoyed because my children and I had to sleep with nightlights on in there(I'm afraid of the dark anyway). One time I was talking to my friend on the phone and it was late at night. (My middle child Annaliese was sleeping in her brother's room in order to get away from her older sister and I had put my son to bed in my room.) I heard loud laughing coming from my son's room and assumed it was my daughter(It sounded like her). I told my friend"Something funny must have happened in the book that Annaliese is reading." My friend agreed because she could hear her too. I was standing outside of the bedroom door when I got off the phone to ask Annaliese to quiet down so that she wouldn't wake her brother and sister. I opened the door and the laughing stopped. There was no one in the room. I slammed the door and went searching for my daughter. I found her asleep on the floor in my room. |

Wow, Bonnie -- that's some serious stuff! It's scary when kids are involved, too, because you don't know how it will affect them in the future. I was 12-13 when I first had experiences with the paranormal, and I still remember it vividly. It's good that what you experienced wasn't violent, though. But, still, it isn't the best feeling to be messed with.
The last house we had is definitely haunted. (The one we're trying to sell.) I'm not sure when the problems started. I think the first thing I noticed was, I would be downstairs in the family room and I would hear heavy footsteps above me, in the master bedroom. I would call Tim at work and he would say, "Well, maybe it's one of the cats." But the cats would be sitting or laying right there with me. Tim's den upstairs had a door leading to the walk-up attic. On a few occasions during the time we lived there, I would be upstairs and would hear the door in there open and shut. This was a stiff door and you had to use a little muscle to push it shut, so there's no way wind could have done it.
One evening, I was in the family room and Tim was upstairs in his den, on his computer. All of a sudden, he comes running down the stairs and his face was white as a sheet. He said he was sitting in there and heard a little girl's voice in the hallway say "mommy". Again, before you think it was a cat, they were both with me at the time. My mom had stayed with us once while dad was away on a trip. I was in the master bedroom, Tim was in his den and mom was in the guest room getting ready for bed. She opened up her door and came to our room and said, "Yes?" I said, "I didn't say anything, Mom." She said, "Well, I just heard you say 'mommy'." I told her, "Well, maybe it was one of the cats or something." First, I hadn't said anything - second, I've never called her 'mommy'. I went to the den and Tim had heard what happened. He said, "Let's not tell her."
There's much more to this story, but I'll have to save it for later. _________________

So I watched the last Ghost Hunters and I think I got just as mad as Jay and Grant with that "blue lady" location.
There is no reason why they should have called them out to investigate things they have rigged up themselves. Those people should be ashamed of themselves. I think real Ghost Hunters fans will not be going to that location as a sort of protest. |

Yeah, we were mad about that, too. I knew they were going to be airing an episode where they were tricked, because they talked about it on their website. I just didn't know which episode it was going to be. What makes it even worse is that they drove clear out to California for the investigation. I'm glad they went ahead and aired it, because it made the owner of the place look like a complete jerk, which he is. _________________
