What do you think? What movies are the most heart-rending and/or tear-jerking flicks of all time? Not necessarily "sad" movies, but ones that really pluck on your heartstrings
Here's a list of mine:
Gallipoli
Hotel Rwanda
The Killing Fields
Glory
Babe
Mystic River
Charly
What are yours?
Thanks,
JE |

I considered Life is Beautiful, Tim. But then I looked at my list and thought it would look like I had a real theme going. _________________

The Green Mile and We Were Soldiers are good ones, too (especially for you guys).
One I truly loved, but was not a big money-maker here in the States, was Henry V, a 1989 movie based on the Shakespeare play, which starred Kenneth Branagh (who also directed) and Emma Thompson. Christian Bale was ready to give up acting until Branagh talked him into taking a role in the movie. It contains one of the best battle scenes in cinematic history (the Battle of Agincourt) and the best war rally speeches. On the softer side, you can feel the love between King Henry and Catharine of Valois (the French Princess, and future Queen of England, played by Thompson), even though they spoke very little of each other's language. Masterpiece of a film, IMHO. _________________
