How about the Olympics? Is anyone else here an Olympics junkie like me? I'm up 'til about 2 am every night glued to the TV!
Couldn't be happier about Michael Phelps! I'm a Phelps Phan!!
And how about the women's gymnastics? I was so mad about the Chinese team and those (clearly!) under-age girls. I didn't think some of them looked older than 12 or 13. When I had my physiotherapy tonight, my therapist said she used to be in gymnastics, so she watches all the championships. She remembers seeing that little He Kexin (who - unfairly - beat Nastia Liukin in uneven bars) competing in the world championship and the announcers said it was too bad she couldn't compete in the Olympics because she was too young (they said she was born in '94). But her passport was changed just before the Olympics to read that she was born on the same date in '92. Did they really think they were going to get away with that??? So, here I am, sitting here watching the games and I hear Bob Costas announce just a few minutes ago that there was an investigation ordered by the Olympics committee. Turns out there are 3 girls (I'm surprised there aren't more) who are underage on the Chinese team and the team may be stripped of their gold medals. This also means He Kexin won't get to keep her gold medal for uneven bars. If you saw the competition, you'll understand why I'm elated! She had obvious errors, while Nastia's performance was near-perfect. The judges really dropped the ball.
Okay, I'm done ranting - for now, anyway!! _________________

SO Keith claimed he hated the Olympics for months before they came on....well let me tell you if he did hate them he does not anymore...
Our house is def an Olympic house and we have been up till around 1 every night watching!
We have gotten WAYYYY into beach volleyball....and of course swimming...we are Phelps Phans......and so is Sammy....she walks around talking about Michael Selps......
And we watched gymnastics and I agree those girls are obviously underage....just pathetic!
I will be sad when it is over _________________

'Michael Selps' - how cute!
I'm having Olympics withdrawals!!! Did you see the closing ceremony last night? Was it just me or was that whole thing just weird??
Staying up until 2 am every night ruined me - lol. I should go to bed, but I can't get tired! I just want to turn to NBC and watch some diving or volleyball or gymnastics or swimming -- heck, I'd even be happy watching the marathon at this point!! _________________

You mean besides the two gigantor wheels of Edam cheese hovering in the air? Tim and I were doing our own commentating (you should have heard us!) -- we said the giant wheels of cheese (that were actually drums) were going to come down on top of the people (who were clad in yellow) and someone would yell out "Cheez-it!!!"
It's kind-of hard to describe it all, because it was so bizarre. The fireworks were pretty cool, though.
I love the winter Olympics, too -- figure skating, downhill skiing, ski jumping, bobsledding, the luge, speed skating, curling, hockey, snowboarding ... love it all! _________________

| I guess we know why the forums are free now... or have these ads always been here? Maybe my adblocker is not working. |
